緣起 Background

斗六早期是平埔族居住的地方，舊名 「 斗六門 」。雲林溪貫穿斗六市中心，昔日溪畔垂柳綠蔭，是抓蝦、抓魚、摸蜆仔及童年嬉戲玩水的好去處；後因與河川爭地，將牛墟橋至斗六橋間溪段加蓋興建停車場。2016 年起雲林溪掀蓋計畫正式啟動，希望重新打造一條令人懷念、乾淨、美麗的雲林溪。
一個城市因有一條迷人的河流而偉大！在雲林溪掀蓋及親水景觀改善之工程施作的同時，思考如何將屬於斗六的母親河── 「 雲林溪 」 沿岸相關的生態、產業、歷史文物、藝術等整理、保存刻不容緩！因此，希冀透過此計畫，結合學校課程，透過莘莘學子對雲林溪的深入認識與未來展望，開創在地文化的新風貌。
The Yunlin Stream flows through core Douliu. In the old days, banks along both sides of the stream, where children had fun in the water, with weeping willows and greenery shade. Later, people competed with the stream and grabbed the stream section, covering it for construction of the parking lots between the Cow Bridge to Douliu Bridge. In 2016, the County Government started the “Uncovering Project”, aiming to revive the stream to become a beautiful clear stream.
A charming stream makes Douliu a great city. Yunlin stream fosters Douliu. Along its waterfront bank, it shows the need to take urgent actions for preserving its ecology, industry and cultures. People expect that this stream remediation project can motivate nearby school students to be aware of and get access to the stream. Furthermore, the students can love the stream, their hometown, and protect it and the surrounding soil. Ultimately, people work together to revive their local culture.
